Moving classrooms...Yikes!

I am switching classrooms. Yikes! I'm also switching to a more structured type of classroom for next year. I'm so excited, but I have a big job ahead of me. I had some of my students help me move things to my new room (not one of my best ideas). Here is a starting pick (aftermath of the move):

Then I (and Priscella) spent one whole day organizing...it doesn't really look like it and I am no where near finished organizing but it's a start.

After all that boring work, I decided to add a little pretty.  Curtains it is!

I need 8 curtains that were 24Lx28W and 1 that was 33LX34W.  I had an idea to use these tulle curtains from IKEA.  They come 2 to a package and are $3.99. I bought 5 packs. I also bought basic gold tension rods from Walmart for $2.49 each.
The curtains were a bit too shear so I wrapped the bottom around the curtain rod (making 3 layers of tulle).  I did my best to bunch the curtains together evenly.  Here's a pick:
Boring!
I really like the tulle idea. It was nice coverage.  You couldn't see all the things hiding behind the curtain but it really needed some color...I made a trip to Hobby Lobby and purchased 1 1/2 yards of this yellow fabric (love it!) and it was only $2.99 a yard. I cut the fabric into 9 strips that were 6 1/2 inches wide.  I pinned it to the tulle and ran it through the sewing machine.  I love the tulle and the yellow pattern but something was still missing...
Maybe a little Trim?
Getting closer...
I made another trip to Hobby Lobby and bought the zigzag ribbon for $3.99 (lucky me it was 50% off).  I needed 3 rolls for all 9 curtains.
Perfect!
I love the finished product! Now let's see if I can do a little math.  Ribbon $3.99 x 3 = $11.97 Calculate the discount (50%) $5.99 total and divide by all 9 curtains = $0.67 each.  Fabric trim   $2.99 x 1.5 = $4.48 total and divide by all 9 curtains = $0.49 each. Tulle $3.99 x 5 = $19.95 total.  divide by all 9 curtains = $2.22 each.  Finally, the curtain rods $2.49 x 9 = $22.41 total.  The total project was $52.53 and each curtain ended up costing $5.87.  I hope my math is right :)  I am a total DORKUS! And I think the curtains are totally worth it! I love having something to hide the clutter and have a clean uniform look in my class!

Here's a few pictures of the finished product...I love them!
